Meet the National Press Club Journalism Institute’s Summer 2026 Interns

The Institute is thrilled to welcome four talented emerging journalists who will join us this summer as interns, reporting for our daily media newsletter, supporting our professional development trainings, and creating specialized journalism projects.

Jaise King is a rising junior at Boston University, where he is double majoring in journalism and political science. King writes for the Boston Political Review and serves as co-music director and DJ for WTBU, the university’s student radio station. His interests in data and investigative journalism, particularly around education issues in the Deep South, will guide his work at the Institute this summer as he looks to sharpen his data journalism skills and expand his professional network.

Jennifer Nehrer is a recent graduate from USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, where she worked for The Daily Trojan and USC Annenberg Media. Nehrer has a longstanding connection to the Institute, where one of her articles was featured in The Latest back in 2020. This summer she looks forward to tackling her own research project and deepening her interest in investigative data journalism and the behind-the-scenes mechanics of the news industry.

Alyssa Rim is a rising senior at the University of Virginia and has been writing for various publications since she was in high school. She is double majoring in Media Studies and English and serves as a student writer at UVA Today. Alyssa is excited to meet and interview DC journalists for The Latest during her internship and get started on her journalism project.

Eric Sohn, a rising senior at the College of William and Mary studying government and film and media studies, has been honing multimedia storytelling since elementary school. He edits video for The Flat Hat and serves as digital media director at campus radio station WCWM. Sohn hopes to grow his skills in multimedia production at the Institute as he pursues a long-term goal of documentary filmmaking.
