National Press Club awards Jackson Juzang its 2026 Dennis & Shirley Feldman Fellowship

The National Press Club has selected Jackson Juzang of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as the recipient of its 2026 Dennis & Shirley Feldman Fellowship. The award for graduate students is a one-time scholarship of $5,000.

Juzang will attend USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism in the fall after graduating from Haverford College this month.

The judges were impressed by Juzang’s exceptional entrepreneurship, leadership, and multimedia experience. In 2025, he founded the Philadelphia Student Press Association, a citywide coalition uniting student-led newsrooms and journalists across universities in the region to share professional development opportunities, mentorship, and other resources. He also founded the multimedia company, PBJ Productions, which creates original content for sports, music, comedy, and entertainment verticals.

“USC Annenberg represents the next phase of that work. The school’s combination of academic rigor and real-world experimentation offers the ideal environment to grow as both a journalist and an organizer,” Juzang said. “I plan to report on education, policy, and the evolving media landscape while studying how communication systems can sustain independent journalism. I want to understand how the infrastructures behind them can be made more equitable.”

While attending Haverford College, Juzang served as editor-in-chief of the school’s independent student newspaper and served as an editorial and research intern for NBC Sports, delivering engaging coverage for NBC Sports’ studio, live event, and digital platforms.

“In Jackson’s mind, no task is too big or too small, even if it’s something he’s had little prior exposure to,” wrote Philip E. Akre, an Emmy Award-winning editor with NBC Sports, in a recommendation letter. “His instinctive curiosity and ambition fuel his work ethic and abilities in production and editorial environments, where he regularly shows initiative to collaborate with colleagues.”

Other recommendation letters from his professors and supervisors praised his professionalism, adaptability, and passion for learning.

“Jackson is far and away the most impressive intern I’ve seen in my decade at NBC Sports,” said Matt Rosenfeld, manager, editorial research at NBC Sports Group. “There are very few college students who have such a clear vision of where they want to go, and the ability to act on what it will take to get there.”

In addition to funding, scholarship winners are awarded one-year complimentary membership to the National Press Club.

“Jackson is exactly the type of journalist the industry needs right now: a powerful combination of vision, entrepreneurship, and purpose,” said National Press Club President Mark Schoeff Jr. “We are delighted to recognize him and look forward to watching everything he accomplishes at USC Annenberg and beyond.”

In addition to funding, scholarship winners are awarded one-year complimentary membership to the National Press Club.
