When I created the Journalists Recovery Network nearly one year ago, the mission was simple: Create a space designed to educate, empower, and support journalists in recovery by connecting them with a community and offering resources.
I had no idea how we would grow.
To date, the Journalists Recovery Network has an advisory committee composed of members across the country and Canada that meet regularly to discuss how we can help others. Our group has been featured on several podcasts and the Mental Health in Journalism Summit in October 2024.
We’ve been fortunate to connect with a number of journalists who support our goal of offering help and support for journalists in need. But, we hope to continue our growth and need your help.
To bookend April as Alcohol Awareness and Second Chance Month, the JRN will host our first ever community discussion Wednesday, April 30, at 3 p.m ET via Zoom to introduce our board and share our stories.
We would like to invite any journalist in recovery or simply interested in learning more about the JRN to join our meeting. We will encourage participants to provide feedback about what we can do to better serve our community. JRN is not affiliated with any 12-step program or recovery group and our events are open to all, no matter where you might be on your recovery journey.
The meeting will be entirely anonymous for those who attend, and will include a Q&A session. Anyone who feels comfortable and wishes to participate can email the JRN for more information at [email protected].
Follow us on socials for the Zoom link which will be released closer to the date.
